Sunday School

Spiritual education contributes to a child’s wellbeing, and the lessons they learn serve them throughout adulthood. This article, Do our kids know about love? explains why it is so important today for children to participate in a regular program of spiritual education.

Each Sunday from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M., our church school welcomes all children in our community up to the age of 20 seeking spiritual education. The Children’s Room welcomes infants and toddlers at the same time.

Sunday sessions divide by age: pre-K, elementary, middle school, and teens. Under the caring guidance of an experienced Christian Scientist, they study the Bible, Christian Science textbook, and weekly Bible Lesson.

For Children

Pre-K, elementary, and middle school children learn the “first lessons,” including,

  • The 10 Commandments
  • Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount
  • The Lord’s Prayer with its spiritual interpretation in the Christian Science textbook
  • Bible verses and stories
  • Healing as taught by Christ Jesus
  • The Synonyms for God found in the Bible and defined in the Christian Science textbook. Check out the synonyms here by viewing these slides.
  • Ways to pray

For Teens

After reading the story of Peter's release from prison (Acts:12), a student illustrates how angels are the bright lights of good thoughts that bring us hope and help free us from our problems.
